Fedora, RedHat Enterprise, CentOS
- RedHat 9:
rpm -Uvh ncurses-devel*.rpm ncurses-devel*.rpm e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel*.rpm
- Fedora Core 3:
yum install ncurses-devel e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel
- Fedora Core 4:
yum install ncurses-devel e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel
- Fedora Core 5:
yum install ncurses-devel e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel ntfsprogs-devel
- Fedora Core 6:
yum install ncurses-devel e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel ntfsprogs-devel
- Fedora 7:
yum install ncurses-devel e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel ntfsprogs-devel libewf-devel
- Fedora 8:
yum install ncurses-devel e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel ntfsprogs-devel libewf-devel
- RHEL 4:
yum install ncurses-devel e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel

Si votre distribution ne dispose pas de tout ces packages, certaines fonctionnalités manqueront. Il vous faudra donc recompiler les dépendances manquantes pour obtenir une version pleinement opérationnelle de TestDisk & PhotoRec.
OpenSuse
- OpenSuse 9.x:
ncurses-devel e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel ntfsprogs-devel zlib-devel openssl-devel libreiserfs libuuid-devel
- OpenSuse 10.x:
ncurses-devel e2fsprogs-devel libjpeg-devel ntfsprogs-devel zlib-devel openssl-devel libreiserfs-devel libuuid-devel
Distribution Linux utilisant RPM
Pour installer le RPM de TestDisk rpm, utiliser
rpm -Uvh testdisk-*.i386.rpm
Si cela ne fonctionne pas, recompiler TestDisk pour votre distribution en utilisant
rpmbuild --recompile testdisk-6.9-1.src.rpm
Debian, Ubuntu
apt-get install build-essential e2fslibs-dev libncurses5-dev libntfs-dev libjpeg62-dev libreiserfs0.3-dev uuid-dev
